My Approach
There is no such thing as a broken person.
Our minds, bodies, and emotions are connected.
Each one has ways of letting us know when how we have been dealing with things or caring for ourselves is no longer working.
Feelings of pain, dis-ease, and dis-connect are signals that indicate when something within us needs our attention and care. When we get to the root of our pain, accept ourselves, and attend to our needs we move towards a state of wellbeing.
As a therapist, I use a combination of different therapeutic ideas and techniques to support people in exploring and bringing healing to all parts of themselves.
Each person is unique and different, and so are their needs.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing, self-discovery, and growth. But, by honestly and compassionately exploring who we are we can arrive at a more cohesive sense of self that promotes healing and wellbeing.
My whole-person approach combines elements of:
Mindfulness
Depth Psychology
Parts Psychology
Narrative Therapy
Nature Therapy
Somatic therapy techniques
Brainspotting*
*What is Brainspotting?
Feelings from distressing or life-threatening events can become lodged in our bodies. These stuck feelings can show up in the mind and body as dis-order and dis-ease. Brainspotting uses points in a person’s visual field to access the area of the brain where the trauma is being held (i.e. brainspots).
Once a brainspot is located focused mindfulness is used to process the memories and emotions being held in the body. This allows a person to get to the root of their negative feelings and emotions. Brainspotting accesses parts of the brain that are generally not able to be reached by traditional talk therapy.
