Hi, I’m Alexandria Parker!
Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She/Her Pronouns. Proud Plant Parent, Introvert, & Nerd. Connoisseur of good-bad jokes. Lover of all things brain-body related. Understands how hard it can be to reach out for help.
I come from a culture, community, and family that doesn’t readily talk about the deep things that hurt us, weigh us down, or distance us from ourselves and others. It can be hard to admit when we need help. It can be daunting to find support that is actually helpful.
I know firsthand what it is like to be a professional that is repeatedly exposed to hard circumstances and the extreme stressors that arise from crises.
Oftentimes the things that make us good at our job make us bad at taking care of ourselves. It can be hard reaching out for help for fear of being exposed or discredited somehow. It can be even harder to know where and how to begin taking care of ourselves.
I know what it is like to be the person that everyone relies on and turns to in difficult times. We get used to carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders and sometimes we even convince ourselves that we should.
In short, I “get it.”
When I recognized that feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, and anxious wasn’t a sign of failure, it changed my life!
It was the start of me learning how to have compassion for myself which enabled me to reach out for support. In safe spaces with safe people, I was able to honestly identify the areas of my life that I had been neglecting and reconnect with the parts of myself in need of care.
No matter what you are dealing with right now, know that things can get better. Whether you are experiencing a difficult life transition, trying to figure out how to authentically negotiate your way in the world, or simply seeking to feel more at home with yourself. You do not have to do it alone. I am here to meet you where you are and journey with you to where you want to go.
